Description

A cabinet card photograph of a group of adults, children and priests standing in front of St. Josephs Catholic Church, 1911. The image is a duplicate within this acquisition. The photographer was C.W. Tucker, in Covina, Cal. The large group are posed in front of the church and the young children and adolescents are wearing regalia consistent with the completion of the sacrament of Confirmation. The inscription on the reverse states that the children completed a Confirmation but due to the young ages of some of the children, it is most likely a mixture of some having completed their First Holy Communion while the other older children completed their Confirmation to the Catholic faith. The year is written in marker at the top, right coerner and location identified as "1st Catholic Church, La Puente" on the lower right. An inscription written on the reverse notes the name Ruth PIlaria with an address and identification of the church being the "Later Guadalupe Chapel 1908?". With moderate abrasions along the edge, minor fading to the image, adhesive on the reverse, it is in good condition overall.
