2012.494.1.2Description
A cabinet card photograph of an expansive landscaped area, Los Angeles, Ellis and Son, ca. 1885. The view takes in a wide area of landscaping with a pepper tree in the foregound, a large lawn area with some new plantings in, but also an open section and then more trees in the distance. At the left is a hedge with some large trees next to it. In the distance appears to be the top of a tower, perhaps a water tower. The stamp of the photographers, Lemuel Ellis and his namesake son, is on the reverse, but no identification as to the location. With some stains, soiling, a hole punched at the top of the matte, and edge abrasions, the overall condition is good.Lexicon
