Description
A cabinet card photograph of San Carlos Cathedral, Monterey, Johnson, ca. 1890s. The view is from the west and there is a cleric standing at the wooden entrance gate to the edifice, which was the chapel of the presidio of Monterey, and which has a bell tower to the left of its elaborately ornamented entrance. To the left is a two-story gabled wood frame building surmounted by a small cross, assumed to be the rectory. With some warping near where the photo was pasted down on paper, stains at the upper left, yellowing and light soiling, the condition is good overall.
