Description

A cabinet card photograph of the Semi Tropic Market House, Los Angeles, W.A. Garrett, Los Angeles, ca. 1900s. The view, taken from the street shows five men and three women in front of the business, including three men in long white coats and another wearing a chef's hat. The women all wear white aprons,as well. A banner hangs over the top of the facade and there is another sign over the entrance. Trays of food items extend out the window and over the sidewalk. At the right is the door to "The Earl," advertising furnished rooms and at the far left is a grocery, though it might be part of the subject business. Garrett's stamp with his address is on the reverse. With light fading on the image and a major crease at the bottom left corner of the matte and some small stains, moderate yellowing, and soiling, the overall condition is fair
