Description

A cabinet card photograph of Wilson School, Pasadena, ca. 1890s. An early example of an amateur photo with a Kodak #2 camera, the view is from the long walkway leading up to the ornate Italianate two-story structure with its center bell tower, of which the top portion is cut off. Lawns flank the walk and there are some small trees planted on the sides, while in the distance on both sides are more trees. Below the bell is the name of the school and the date "1887." The school stood on Marengo Avenue near Walnut Street, where the Civic Center is located today. With curvature, slight soiling and minor edge abrasions, the condition is good overall.
