Description

A cabinet card portrait photograph of Monimia Botsford by George Steckel, Los Angeles, 1892. The studio portrait shows the upper torso and head of the toddler as she leaned against a pillow on a pedestal with her head resting on her left hand. There is an ink inscription on the upper reverse to a grandmother with a date of 28 October 1892. Botsford's father, William, was a prominent capitalist and her mother Monimia was a well-known local musician and composer. With some large stains, soiling, edge rubbing and significant curvature of the mount, the overall condition is fair.
