Description

A cabinet card postmortem photograph of a man in a casket, taken by Mally of Chicago, 1898. The closeup view in an oval window shows the upper torso and head of the man, dressed in a black suit, white shirt and tie with the lining of the casket consisting of a white material. At the bottom of the matte is the photographer's surname and address. On the verso is a pencil inscription with the name "Mrs. Hadok," presumably the widow, and an address, as well as "bust of front / paid $1.00 / Dec. 1898." With edge rubbing, some small stains, and soiling, the overall condition is good.
