Description
A cabinet card studio portrait of a female Salvation Army member, Los Angeles, James D. Westervelt, ca. 1895. The image is in an oval window frame on the matte and shows the woman from the waist up. She wears a black bonnet with a ribbon hanging off her left shoulder and a dark dress. Pinned to the front of her collar is a Salvation Army badge. The organization started in Los Angeles in 1887. There is some soiling on the image and heavy soiling and staining on the matte, so the condition is fair.
