Description
A cabinet card studio portrait of a young boy, Dewey, Los Angeles, 1888. The child, wearing a white dress, likely a christening gown, with a dark belt, holding a sprig of flowers in his right hand as he sits on a piece of furniture covered by a patterned throw. At this feet are arranged flowers. On the reverse is an inscription "Carl Ray Thacker / Christmas 1888 / Two years old nearly." The bottom is trimmed, so most of the photographer's cartouche is gone, but the pattern of Dewey's is recognizable. The overall condition is good despite the abrasions along the edges, most likely due to the trimming.
