Description
A cabinet card studio portrait of Caroline Fogal Eldridge, Sunbeam Art Gallery, Los Angeles, ca. 1890s. Eldridge is shown in a head-and-shoulder view and she is turned to her left. Due to the method of developing and perhaps fading, it is hard to see much of the white dress, although there is a visible high collar with a brooch at the front. Her hair is curled at the front and pulled up into a bun at the back. On the reverse is the inscription "Caroline Eldridge / grandma." Caroline Fogal was the daughter of Andrew and Phoebe Fogal, farmers in the Green Meadows area south of Los Angeles. With small stains on the reverse, minor soiling and abrasions, the overall condition is good.
