Description
A cabinet card studio portrait of Kate Fogal Nissen, photographer James B. Blanchard, Los Angeles, ca. 1890s. Nissen is shown in a head-and-upper torso view and she is turned slightly to her right. She wears a dark colored dress with wide black lapels and a high collar, on which is a pin. Her hair is curled at the front and pulled up at the back. On the reverse is the inscription "Kate Nissen." Caroline Fogal was the daughter of Andrew and Phoebe Fogal, farmers in the Green Meadows area south of Los Angeles and she married a neighbor, Peter Nissen. With small stains or foxing at the bottom and reverse, minor soiling and abrasions, the condition is good.
