Description

A cabinet card studio portrait of two teenaged girls, Sunbeam Art Gallery, Los Angeles, February 1894. The teenaged girls are sitting together closely and are from the mid-torso up. The girl on the left smiles slightly as she looks toward the right while the other subject looks in the opposite direction. At left, the girl wears as dress with dark and light oval print elements, a black high collar with a horseshoe pin and has her hair pulled up in back. The girl at right has a dark dress with a high collar and a medallion at the front, a long necklace and a pocket watch attached to the left breast. The other girl has what might be a pocket watch at the right breast. On the reverse in pencil is "Celia / Feb 94 age 16 [or 15]," this appearing to be for the girl at the right. A separate pen inscription reads, "Aunt Tera [?] / left." With minor stains or foxing, at the bottom of the reverse, fading, soiling and rubbing, the overall condition is good.
