Description
A cabinet card photograph of Rose Mesmer (born in 1853 and married in 1879), taken at the Elite Gallery, Payne, Stanton and Co., Los Angeles, ca. 1880. The photograph is most likely a marriage portrait as it was paired with one of her husband (2014.680.1.1). Mesmer is shown in three quarter profile with her hair braided into a bun. She wears flowers in her hair, drop earrings and a large gold locket over her lace, ruffled collar. There is moderate foxing surrounding the image and also acid burn on the reverse. It is in good condition.
