Description
A cabinet photo of the White residence, Monrovia, ca. 1900. The view is taken from the street and takes in the front and one side of the one-story, steeply gabled house, which has a wrap-around porch, shingled roof with an ornamented flat top, a chimney at the tear an a variety of plants in its landscape, which also includes walks and a lawn. Near the wire fence and wooden entry gate are the family, consisting of a man and woman and two boys in their early teens or late childhood. On the reverse near the cartouche is an ink inscription reading "Grandpa & Grandma White / their home at Monrovia." The image is heavily faded, but clean, and the matte has some minor stains and soiling. The photo is in poor condition.
