Description

A cabinet photograph of a house at Chester Place, Los Angeles, ca. 1900s. Taken from across the street, the view shows the front facade of the large Craftsman residence, situated at the end of the street near the ornate wrought iron gates, open at the right, to the exclusive subdivision. The house as Romanesque walls at the porch and left side of the first floor, a projecting bay on the second floor and a steep curving roofline at the front. Some palm trees, a lawn, sidewalks and other landscaping are in evidence. On the reverse is "A residence in Chester Place." With abrasions, small stains, some heavy soiling, and warping and rubbing of the matte, the overall condition is fair.
