Description

A cabinet studio portrait of a young girl in a costume with leaf appliques, E. W. Fortune, Los Angeles, ca. 1890s. The view is full-length and shows the girl standing with her right leg set back and her right foot on her toes. Her right arm rests on the back of a side chair partially covered by a lace curtain and her right hand is at her face. In her hair and on her light-colored dress are artificial leaves appliques, as if she is in a costume for a play or pageant. The photo might be connected to item .824, perhaps the girls were sisters. At the bottom is Fortune's cartouche. With minor soiling and rubbing, the condition is good.
