A carte-de-visite photograph portrait of a woman, by Valentine Wolfenstein, Los Angeles, 1870s. The image is a head-and-shoulders frontal view of the unidentified woman, whose hair is braided and piled atop her head and who wears an outfit with a black collared jacket and a dress with a bow. She also wears a brooch. On the reverse is printed Wolfenstein's name, location in the Temple Block, and a logo identifying him as the winner of the first premium at the Southern District Fair. With moderate stains possibly indicating past presence of mold, fading, some soiling and edge rubbing, the condition is fair condition.
