Description
A carte de visite studio portrait of a toddler, Photographic Parlors, Los Angeles, ca. 1878. The image shows the young child, looking to be about 6 months of age, wearing a black dress with white lace collar and sleeves, and sitting what looks to be a christening gown, sitting on an overstuffed armchair with a bold floral pattern and tassels at the front of the arm and along the rail below the seat (this same chair being in 2012.226.1.1 as well.) Photographic Parlors was owned by Francis Parker, who bought the gallery of Henry T. Payne in 1876. The condition is good overall.
