Description
A carte de visite studio portrait of an infant, Photographic Parlors, Los Angeles, ca. 1878. The young child, appearing to be between one to two years of age, wears a suit with pleated skirt, gown, and stockings with leather shoes. The toddler is sitting on an overstuffed armchair with a bold floral pattern and tassels at the front of the arm and along the rail below the seat (this chair is also in 2012.227.1.1.) Photographic Parlors was owned by Francis Parker, who bought the gallery of Henry T. Payne in 1876. The photograph appears to be trimmed at the top edge, and there is minor warping, but is in good condition overall.
