2011.524.1.1Description
A carte-de-visite studio portrait of J. D. Young by William N. Tuttle, Los Angeles, ca. 1872. Young sits in a chair with a tasseled arm rest and fabric seat cushion. He wears a dark three-piece suit, white shirt, and dark bowtie. His name is on the reverse and the card's stamp is for San Francisco photographers, however, the name of Tuttle and location of Los Angeles are inscribed next to crossed out areas. Young, a native of Missouri, farmed in the south Los Angeles area and was connected to the Griffin, Rose and Chauvin families, represented in other photos in this and the next accession. With some soiling, a stain at the left of the image, and edge abrasion, the overall condition is good.Lexicon
