Description
A cartes-de-visite of a young woman, studio portrait by unknown photographer, possibly Alfred Shea Addis, Los Angeles, ca. 1870. The woman stands, leaning against a chair in front of a curtain. She wears an ethnic costume: a mid-calf, short sleeved dress with a striped sash across her right shoulder. The dress is ribbed with tassels at the hem and sleeve edges. She wears a long sleeved layer underneath the dress. Her hair is curly and teased out for height and volume. The photograph is in good condition with minor surface soiling, foxing, fading and overall discoloration.
