Description
A cartes-de-visite of John B. Wilson, by Steve A. Rendall in Los Angeles, ca. 1869. John was the grandson of Benjamin Davis Wilson (1811-1878) a member of the Workman-Rowland party of 1841. John Wilson in this photograph appears to be in his twenties, shortly before he committed suicide. He stands in a studio setting, leaning against a prop banister with an upholstered chair nearby. He wears a long overcoat, hat and holds a long pipe in his mouth. The photograph is pasted onto a gold trimmed card. There is a pencil inscription on the reverse. With discoloration, abrasions, and minor surface soiling, the object is in good condition overall.
