Description
A closeup of dynamite damage to the Grapevine siphon of the Los Angeles Aqueduct, 2 November 1931. The view shows a man in a suit pointing to a break in the pipe caused by an explosion while portions of the desert landscape are below the pipe. A pasted-down caption on the reverse states the location as Jawbone Canyon near Mojave and indicates that what was thought to be the work of Owens Valley ranchers may have been vandals instead. Credit information is also stamped, as is the reference library stamp for the "San Francisco Examiner" newspaper, dated 3 November. With dogeared corners, creases, and light soiling, the overall condition is good.
