Description
A CONTENTED GROUP AT GAY'S LION FARM, EL MONTE, CALIF.
Postcard: A black and white postcard of a group of lions at Gay's Lion Farm, El Monte, ca. 1920s. There are thirteen lions pictured in a cage made of wire and wood with a dirt floor. Eleven of the animals are resting on a sloping wooden platform, one lion is laying off to the left side and another is walking toward the camera. Outside of the cage at left is a rock-bordered path with wooden railings. It appears there are buildings in the background with various trees. At lower right, in white ink, is the title of the postcard, which was purchased from dealer Jim Reid and which is in good condition with light discoloration, minor edge wear, especially at the corners, and a small stain at reverse upper left.
