Description

A couple in front of a Queen Anne-style cottage, by Benjamin and Lucius Jarvis, Pasadena, California, ca. 1887. The image, which could be the work of Edward Sands Frost and Son (see items .3 and .4 of the accession for more) shows a man standing next to a woman seated in one of two wicker rocking chairs placed on the lawn in front of the single-story heavily-ornamented residence. A few trees, probably citrus, appear newly planted and are in front and to the right side of the house. The Jarvis name and city are at the bottom of the mount and, on the reverse, is more gallery information. With some stains, soiling, edge rubbing and, significant abrasions at the left that somewhat affect the image, the condition is fair.
