Description
A cyanotype real photographic postcard of Devil's Gate, Arroyo Seco above Pasadena, postmarked 25 June 1908. The cyanotype, with its distinctive blue tint, shows the rushing water of the arroyo coming through the narrow opening between a chaparral-covered hillside left and a rocky outcropping at the right, at the bottom of the latter having three objects that might be wood or metal. Otherwise, the scene shows the natural scenery of the area. A message points out a part of the outcropping with what looks like the profile of an Indian marked in a brown color pencil mark and noted that the weather was 92 degrees in the shade after a two-mile walk from the "Pasadena cars," meaning streetcar. With some stains, soiling and , but the image clean, the condition is good overall.
