Description

A deed from Tulare County Sheriff William C. Owen to David W. Alexander and F.P.F. Temple for Rancho San Emigdio, 4 November 1864. The document followed a tax sale (see the certificate in this accession) in which the sheriff sold the 17,700-acre ranch in The Grapevine south of Bakersfield, in what soon became Kern County, to the pair for paying $80.02 in unpaid taxes. With tears, small stains, edge wear and creases, the condition is fair.
