Description

A FENCE SEPARATING TWO HOMES FROM DUBOIS WOVEN WOOD FENCE PAMPHLET Color: Black; White A photograph of two homes separated by a fence from a pamphlet for Dubois Woven Wood fences, ca. 1920s. The horizontal image shows a section of fence with a gate just right of center. The fence consists of thin poles with pointed tops, joined together by horizontal bracing at five places on the other side, as seen in item .7. The gate looks similar, but has a curved top and two metal braces on the front. A series of stepping stones lead to the gate in the lawn in the foreground. At the far left is a small portion of a dwelling wall, with a shingled appearance, while a larger portion of a one-story house at the right shows it to be wood sided. A shuttered window at the front, portions of side windows behind the fence and the pitched roof are also partly visible. Just behind the fence and in the far background are some trees. A caption at the bottom reads "IN A BUNGALOW COLONY IT PROVIDES PRIVACY." At the lower left is the inscription "Dubois Woven Wood Fence / Made in France," while at the lower right is "Robert C. Reeves Co. / New York." There appears to be little wear or damage to the artifact, which is in good condition. Number-Units: 1
