Description

A cabinet card photograph of a firefighting crew rushing with equipment down a residential street, Los Angeles, Otto Kerner, 23 May 1909. The group of about ten men are in street clothes and a few of them are pulling a two-wheeled cart with a water tank and hose, while the others are up ahead, in what is evidently a training exercise. A few one-story wooden houses are behind them. A pencil inscription and arrow reads "Geo. Cornelson" at the top left. On the reverse is the photographer's stamp and the date. With some soiling, stains and edge abrasions on the matte, the condition is good.
