Description

A full-length studio portrait of a teenaged girl, J. B. Blanchard, Los Angeles, ca. 1890s. The view shows the girl, wearing a white dress with a white high lace collar, black neck, sleeve ends, cumberbund and fingerless gloves, seated upon a chair covered with plant material. In her lap with her left hand resting upon it is an open book. The backdrop is a painted forest scene and there is a large palm frond propped up aganist it. Plant material seems to be laid on the floor, as well. A printed statement about duplicates and an address is on the reverse. With some soiling, small creases, and a few very small stains, the condition is good.
