Description
A glass negative of a family on the steps of the East Los Angeles Baptist Church, ca. 1900s. The view shows a man, woman and child seated on the side rail of the steps with just a small portion of the building's entrance and a corner in view. The man holds a copy of "Young People" magazine and the boy has something in his hands, perhaps a toy. There is a plaque with the church name, name and home address of its pastor, dates and times of services and a welcome statement. Some trees, a street and portions of houses across the street are in view, as well. The area of old East Los Angeles is now Lincoln Heights and it is presumed the church was near the pastor's home address of 412 E. Avenue 28, near Griffin. With slight emulsion loss at the edges, the item appears in otherwise good condition.
