Description

A hand crank, ca. 1860s. The item, believed to have been used at the Workman Brothers saddle and harness shop in Los Angeles, includes a turned wooden handle with burling on it and the forged crank with a square opening for turning bolts. The handle has a crack, a gouged piece at the bottom and smaller gouges next to that, while the metal portions have the expected wear, so the condition is fair.
