A house in Los Angeles with persons posed in frontEntry/Object ID
2007.168.1.1Description
A house in Los Angeles with persons posed in front, Garden City Photo Co., ca. 1905. The view shows seven adults posed on or near the porch of the one-story home with three children and a dog in a horse-drawn cart to the right. The home is a wooden-framed structure on a brick foundation, has Ionic columns and decorative work reminiscent of Greek Revival architecture, and leaded-glass windows. There are portions of an outbuilding at right, a nearby house at left, and barren landscaping, suggesting a newly-completed home. There is a pencil inscription on the reverse that appears to read "Calmanda St" as well as printed information from the photographer and a pencil-inscribed identification number. With light fading, soiling, a few stains, and rubbing to the matte, the condition is fair overall.Lexicon
