Description

A black and white lantern slide, "East From Cor. Belmont Ave. and Rockwood St., Los Angeles, Cal.," ca. 1900s. The image shows a crambed up scene of wooden oil derricks, tanks, sheds and other structures near at least one residence. On one corner of that intersection there are newer tanks and other oil drilling material. An ink inscription with a title of "338.2P California--Los Angeles Petroleum oil wells" is at the left margin and a sticker with the number "1165" in ink is at the upper right. The main title is in white on the bottom of the actual image. With minor soiling and abrasions, the condition is good.
