Description
A large format cabinet photo of the Jefferson Street Elementary School kindergarten class, Los Angeles, unattributed, 1907. The image shows part of the teacher at the lower left sitting at an upright piano, while the thirty or so student sit at tables looking, excepting one student, at the photographer. The back wall is decorated with pictures, drawings or paintings on the wall and models. A clock is at the left and there is a decoration of paper and greenery hanging from the ceiling. One framed work is of the Virgin Mary and Christ child and an ink inscription on the reverse identifies the class, school and city, while a pencil inscription under that reads "Catholic School 1907." With many tears on the photo, a missing corner of the matte, and missing edges of the photo, soiling and abrasions, the condition overall is poor
