Description
A large format cabinet studio portrait of a girl from a Santa Ana, California photographer, ca. 1890s. The image is an unusual closeup sideview of the girl's head and upper torso, showing her wearing adark-colored blouse with puffed sleeves, a drawstring front, and a lace collar with a pin at the front. Her hair is pulled back and curled in front and she wears drop earrings. The photographer's cartouche is a difficult to read script and has the street address as East Fourth, though any number might be damaged by significant wear at the corner. With soiling, stains, losses, pencil scribbles and glue residue on the reverse and heavy edge abrasions, the condition is fair to poor.
