Description
A ledger book page of documents relating to crime in California, mainly from Los Angeles, November 1890. On one side is a handwritten letter from 23 November 1890 on police chief stationery from Los Angeles chief J. M. Glass requesting the arrest of two suspected embezzlers, Harry Ingersoll and William H. Daugherty, giving detailed descriptions of both. Under the letter is a telegram from the 25th from a Los Angeles constable, McFarland, to San Diego police chief Joseph Coyne that Ingersoll had been jailed there. At the bottom are photos of the two men with the signatures reversed and a short news article mentioning McFarland's arrest of Ingersoll (also known as Brown or Douglass.) On the reverse is a short letter to Coyne from Glass from 11 November 1890 about the theft of a valise from a doctor with a description of its contents and mention of a "liberal reward." Also here is a letter from a San Jose constable to Coyne from 29 October 1890 requesting the arrest of a wanted criminal said to be in San Diego with his wife and giving a description of both. With much staining, some stears, adhesive residue, creases, and soiling, the condition is fair.
