Description
A letter (a) and envelope (b) from Casper Behrendt to John H. Temple, 22 January 1887. Behrendt, a commission merchant who came to Los Angeles with his brothers in the 1850s, wrote from New York on the letterhead of Rejall and Becker, pipe and smoking article merchants, to tell Temple to go to the First National Bank of Los Angeles and that he would pay notes given him by Temple and that he would them until they were paid. Behrendt also told Temple he would pay for his insurance, as well. With folds, smeared ink, a few creases and light soiling, the letter is in good condition, while the envelope has more stains, soiling and creases and is in fair shape.
