Description

A letter (a-b) and envelope (c) from Nettie Friend de Temple to Laura González Temple, 24 May 1908. The missive, written from Nettie's South Los Angeles house, stated she was sorry to hear of the illness of Francisca Valenzuela, Laura's biological mother, and an injury to Walter Temple's hand. She mentioned that their son Thomas was special because he was named for Nettie's late husband and Walter's oldest sibling and treasured the child's postcard because she lost everything, including her husband's photos, in the San Francisco fire and earthquake in 1906. She also requested to hear from Margarita Temple Rowland, Walter's sister. With folds, a dogeared corner and creases, the letter is in good condition, while the envelope is fair with many creases and light stains and soiling.
