2021.3.2.10a-bDescription
A letter (a) and envelope (b) from Nettie Friend de Temple to Laura Gonzalez, 29 December 1893. The missive, from the widow of Thomas W. Temple, is to Laura (Lorenza) and "Pancha," likely Francisca Valenzuela, Laura's birth mother, and is addressed to Laura at Boyle Heights. Signing herself as Josefina (Josephine), Nettie asked for money from Lucinda Temple de Zuñiga because she was out of work and needed to pay rent. She asked that Walter and Charles Temple not be told because she thought they did not like her and she asked if Laura and Francisca had visited Thomas Temple's grave, he having died in February 1892, during a period when his mother, Antonia Margarita Workman de Temple, and grandmother, Nicolasa Urioste, like him, died of the flu. With a portion of the bottom missing, some small stains, creases and light soiling, the condition is fair.Lexicon
