Description
A letter (a) and envelope (b) from Nettie Friend de Temple to Laura Gonzalez, 8 January 1894. The missive, from the widow of Thomas W. Temple, is to Laura (Lorenza) and "Pancha," likely Francisca Valenzuela, Laura's birth mother, and is addressed to Laura at Boyle Heights. Signing herself as Josefina (Josephine), Nettie continued (see item .10 of this accession) to ask for money because she was out of work and needed to pay rent. She asked that Lucinda Temple de Zuñiga be asked specifically, but that Walter and Charles Temple not be told because she thought they did not like her and that Lucinda's husband, Manuel Zuñiga, would blame his wife if she sent five dollars. With folds, some creases and light soiling, the condition is good.
