Description
A letter (a) and envelope (b) from Rose Spitz to Laura Gonzalez, 20 December 1900. The missive, written from San Francisco, mentions a package would arrive with a cashmere article of clothing and she added that Laura would find the City by the Bay freezing "unless Walter was with you" and asked if he'd been in town lately. Spitz wishes Laura a Merry Christmas and hopes that she will be happily married in 1901 (Walter and Laura married in 1903). The envelope is from Rose's father Wolf Kalisher and sent from his Hotel Brunjes in Azusa to Laura at the Kalisher family house in Los Angeles where Laura (enumerated there in the 1900 federal census) then resided. With folds, light creasing and very light soiling, the condition is good, while the envelope is fair with creases, ink smearing and light soiling.
