Description

A letter (a) and envelope (b) to Dine Van Loon of Edgerton, Michigan, from a sender in Pasadena, 17 November 1886. The short missive noted a recent arrival for work and marveled at the "splendor" of "a perfect garden of Eden", mentioned the pay and board and stated that if he'd arrived in spring he'd have $2,000 more. The envelope, on a brick and tile company letterhead from Grand Rapids, south of Edgerton, has a two-cent stamp and Los Angeles postmark from the 18th. With folds, a few small stains and slight soiling on the letter and creases, browning and some stains on the envelope, the overall condition is good.
