Description

A letter from a unknown author of the Whittier Extension Company to E.C. Day in Paso Robles, California. 15 December 1913. A typed, 2 page letter in response to a letter sent by E.C. Day. In the previous letter, Mr. Day wrote that he was interesting in buying Los 120 and 121 in the North Whittier Heights subdivision. This land has been sold to Joe Cole, and he is not interested in selling. The author will send Mr. Day a map of the subdivided tracts, marking which have sold, which are for sell and a blue pencil will indicate which are about 3 acres. The author then lists lots, acreage, and price for land in both the rolling hills and flatter property. The author asks Mr. Day what type of property he is looking for, and offers to select the perfect lot, as if he was buying for himself. He also gives Mr. Day the option, should he not like the property when he comes to Los Angeles, and sees it, to trade it with any lot the company has not yet sold. Terms of sale are 1/5 cash, 1/5 in 2 years and the balance in 5 years. The author invites Mr. Day to contact the Chamber of Commerce, The Los Angeles Realty Board, First National Bank, or The Los Angeles Trust and Savings Bank to learn of the merit of the land as well as the reliability of the owners and agents for the property. Lastly, the author informs that lands are going quickly, and to get a prize piece he should buy soon. The pages are glued together in the top left corner. Page 1 (a) also has a fold of the top right corner, an acid burn along the top and left side, and discoloration of the top and right side. Page 2 (b) has warping of the top right corner, and discoloration of the top and right side. This object is in good condition overall.
