A letter from an unknown author of the Whittier Extension Company to J.L. Prince in Los Angeles, California. 28 November 1913.
A typed, 2 page letter in which the author is following up with a phone conversation he had with J.L. Prince regarding information of North Whittier Heights. The author will mail under a separate cover a descriptive folder, which will include a map of the tracts as subdivided, a map of Southern California which shows where the property is located, as well as articles on the soil, water, location, climatic conditions, and improvements. There are 1300 acres which have been subdivided into tracts of 5 to 50 acres and are being sold for $500 to $900 an acre, with cheaper land needing more leveling before trees can be planted. The owners of the subdivision have also planted many acres of Valencia Oranges, Eureka Lemons, grapefruit and navels. These lands are being sold at 5 acres and up. These young groves, or to have the company plant trees on a persons property will cost an extra $175 an acre, and for a small amount more, they will contract an orchardist to care for the young trees. They have sold over $175,000 worth of property, mostly to successful citrus men and invite Mr. Prince to speak to some of the buyers The Whittier Extension Company feels that this land is some of the best citrus land in Southern California. The author closes the letter by inviting Mr. Prince out to see the property.
