Description
A letter from an unknown author of Whittier Extension Company to Andrew S. Lee in Venice, California. 1 December 1913.
A typed, 2 page latter in response to a letter from Andrew S. Lee (object number 2017.41.1.250) which asked for information on the North Whittier Heights subdivision. A descriptive folder is being mailed under a separate cover letter. This will include a map of the subdivided tracts, a map of Southern California showing the exact location of the property, as well as articles on the soil, water, climatic conditions, and the terms of sale. Unplanted lands cost between $550 and $800 an acre depending on location. They will plant this land out to budded avocado trees for an extra $250 an acre of to orange and lemon trees for an extra $175 an acre. Terms of sale are 1/5 cash, 1/5 in years and the balance in 5 years. For those that do not plant to take over the land right away, they can work with the Whittier Extension Company and have a contracted orchardist take care of the young groves for a small cost. Much of the land has been sold to local and successful orchardists and feel that once Mr. Lee sees the land he will want to own some as well. The author closes the letter by inviting Mr. Lee out to the property.
The 2 pages have been glued together in the top left corner. Page 1 (a) also has minor browning along the top. Page 2 (b) also has discoloration on the right side, damage on the left side, and minor creases in the bottom right corner. This object is in good condition overall.
