Description

A letter from an unknown author to A.F. Rowe is Potterville, Michigan. 11 April 1914. A typed, 2 page letter in response to a letter (object number 2017.41.1.421) requesting information on North Whittier Heights. A descriptive folder will be mailed under a separate cover letter. This will include a map of the property as subdivided, a map of Southern California which shows the location of North Whittier Heights, as well as articles on the soil, water and climatic conditions. Unplanted lands have been divided into 2 to 50 acre tracts and cost $400 to $800 per acre. Also, several acres have been planted to Eureka Lemons, Valencia Oranges and Marsh Grapefruit. This land is being divided into 5, 10, 15, and 20 acre tracts and cost $750 to $1025 per acre. Some of the most successful citrus growers and nurserymen have invested in North Whittier Heights which shows the merit of the land. This, along with the modern townsite and completion of road through Turnbull Canyon, will increase the value of land in North Whittier Heights. The author then provides a list of people who have bought in North Whittier Heights, and invites A.F. Rowe to contact them to learn more about the land. The author closes the letter by inviting Mr. Rowe out to the property, should he come to California, and by offering any addition information. Both pages have been glued together in the top left corner, there is a tear on the top of the page, creases on the top, and discoloration on the top and right side. Page 1 (a) also has a tear on the right side and a fold of the top right corner. Page 2 (b) has a fold on the left side, a piece missing from the bottom left corner, a hole toward the bottom of the page, and the back has an unknown substance. This object is in fair condition overall.
