A letter from an unknown author to Ben Petty in Los Angeles, California. 9 February 1914.
A typed, 2 page draft letter. A descriptive folder will be mailed under a separate cover letter. The folder will include a map of the tract as subdivided, a map of Southern California which shows the location of the property, as well as articles on the soil, water and climatic conditions of the land. Unplanted land has been subdivided into 2 to 50 acre tracts and is being sold for $400 to $800 an acre. Many acres have also been planted to Eureka Lemons, Valencia Oranges, or Marsh Grapefruit. This land has been divided into 5, 10, 15, and 20 acre tracts and are being sold at $750 to $1025 an acre. Some of the most successful citrus men and nurserymen have invested in North Whittier Heights because they have the conditions to develop "citrus groves that pay." With the ability to successfully grow citrus, the modern townsite, and the new road running through Turnbull Canyon, the value of the land is going to go up. The author would be please to take Mr. Petty out to see the property. There are a few corrections in pencil through out the letter.
The pages (a and b) have been glued together at the top, holes in the top left corner from a straight pin, discoloration on the right side, and acid burn along the top. This object is in good condition overall.Lexicon
