A letter from an unknown author to C.A. Mac Millan in Regina, Canada. 2 February 1914.
A typed, 2 page letter where the author was requested by Mr. J.W. Fitch to send a descriptive folder for North Whittier Heights to C.A. Mac Millan. This folder will be sent with a different cover letter. The folder will include a map of the tracts as subdivided, a map of Southern California which shows the exact location of the property, as well as articles on the soil, water, and climatic conditions. The property has been subdivided into tracts from 5 to 50 acres, with unplanted land costing $400 to $800 an acre. Many acres have also been planted to Eureka Lemons, Valencia Oranges, and Marsh Grapefruit. This land has been divided into 5, 10, 15, and 20 acres tracts and cost $750 to $975 an acre. Some of the most successful citrus men have bought land which shows they have land that have the land to develop "citrus groves that pay," and the prices for these lands are set accordingly. With the completion of a townsite, a road through Turnbull Canyon, and the ability for the land to produce the value of the land will only go up. The author closes the letter by inviting Mr. Mac Millan out to the property when he comes to Los Angeles and offering to provide any information Mr. Mac Millan needs.
The pages have been glued together along the top and discoloration on the right side. Page 1 (a) has browning along the top edge, warping on the bottom left, and an acid burn on the back, bottom right corner. Page 2 (b) has abrasion damage on the right edge, and the back has an acid burn on the left and top, and rust damage in the top right corner from a paper clip. This object is in good condition overall.Lexicon
