Description
A letter from an unknown author to C.G. Ferguson in Minneapolis, Minnesota. 4 May 1914.
A typed letter responding to a request (object number 2017.41.1.464) for information on North Whittier Heights. Unplanted land costs between $400 and $800 per acre with cheaper land being in the rolling hills and needing more leveling before planting. Level portions cost $700 to $750 per acre with an additional charge of $175 an acre if planted to trees. Enclosed is an approximate figure if C.G. Ferguson was to buy 5 acres at $700 an acre as well as the cost to plant to trees and the cost to care for the trees for up to 5 years. The author is also enclosing the cost of 5 acres already planted as well as articles on production values. The author will mail under a separate cover, a map of the tracts as subdivided and a map of Southern California which shows the exact location of the property. There are a few 5 and 10 acre tracts which were planted to Valencia Oranges, Eureka Lemons, and Marsh Grapefruit in the spring of 1913. These lands cost $750 to $1025 per acre. The author invites Mr. Ferguson to write the Chamber of Commerce, Realty Board, Los Angeles Trust and Savings Bank, or the Whittier Board of Trade regarding the merit of the land and the reliability of the owners and agents. The author closes the letter by inviting Mr. Ferguson out to see the property should he come to California.
There are three small tears in the bottom left, possible rodent damage on the left edge, discoloration on all sides, and an acid burn over most of the paper. This object is in fair condition.
